CO-Breathing ruthenium and rhodium clusters

Ruthenium carbido cluster [Ru6C(CO)16Me](-) on MgO exhibits an expansion-shrink cycle of metal framework [Ru6C] by CO adsorption/desorption, accompanied with good catalysis for oxygenated synthesis (methanol, dimethyl ether, formaldehyde) from CO/H2 .
